Coaching approach

The International Coach Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential”.

We base coaching conversations on the understanding that every client is creative and resourceful, ie. they have the skills and experiences to draw on that will steer them to solutions. It is our job to ask the right question, at the right time, in the right way in order to allow the client to gain clarity and perspective and decide on a plan of action.

We act as a sounding board for clients to explore and develop new ideas. We hold clients accountable for their actions and ultimate results, supporting and encouraging achievements that sometimes push the boundaries of what was thought possible.

Coaching works by unlocking your own resources and potential. It helps you to gain greater clarity, boost your motivation and determination to act and to develop your self belief, often the biggest obstacle to moving forward.

Self assessment and reflection

We’ll run you through exercises based on your career highlights to date and your vision for the future to help you identify:

  • You at your best – what brings out the absolute best in you
  • Your key strengths
  • Your current skills and experience toolkit
  • The skills and experience you’ll need to achieve your future vision
  • Your work/career in the context of your whole life.
CV review and revision

We’ll help you make sure your CV highlights the things that prospective employers need to know about you. Similarly, we’ll talk about preparing a targeted and effective cover letter.

Interviewing

This is the most critical stage in a recruitment and selection process and you may only get an hour (at the most!) to convince a prospective employer that you’re the right person for the job. We’ll work with you on the following:

  • Practice interview questions – behavioural competency questions as well as less structured interviewing
  • Preparing for the interview.
General career and job search support
  • Networking – understanding, growing and leveraging your network
  • Use of online and more traditional job search methods
  • Tips and tools to help you stay positive and focused on your goals.
